Claudia Hagadus Long, of counsel, has mediated well over 800 cases.
Approximately half have been in the real estate area, especially non-disclosure and title disputes, and more than 150 have been construction defect matters. Habitability cases, lease holdovers, Homeowners' Association problems, and general residential and commercial real estate disputes round out the caseload in the real estate area.
Claudia mediates business disputes, including embezzlement, business dissolution, unfair business practices, and banking issues. Before she dedicated her practice full time to mediation and arbitration, Claudia had twenty years of litigation experience, including her work as a litigator for Bank of America.
Other areas are growing. The two biggest growth areas are disputes among heirs after a parent has died and wrongful termination cases in the employment arena.
A major advantage to mediating with Claudia is that she is able to see the bigger picture, absorb a tremendous amount of financial and technical information quickly, and understand the personal, as well as the financial, consequences of a case. Being fluent in Spanish, Claudia can often reach monolingual clients to achieve an understanding of the legal situation and further the possibility of settlement.
As an Arbitrator, Claudia has presided as chief Arbitrator in many matters, in both business dissolution and real estate related cases. As Umpire, she has chaired the panel of Insurance valuation disputes involving million dollar claims in fire damage and water damage cases.
